Hi everyone,

first preview image!

I've upped the preview resolution to the 2K game resolution. Not sure if I'm going to post all preview images on social media, but whenever I do, it will be the 1K version and on a several day delay. I hope you don't mind me doing that. It makes them a bit less exclusive, but I hope it will help me draw some more people in, and that should benefit everyone, right?

A development progress update - Vol. 35
Hi everyone,

very quick post tonight with just a few bits and pieces:

1.
Dev progress has been alright, but slightly slower than I want it to be. Mostly related to current world events. I hope I can begin posting preview images on Friday though.

2.
Fan Fiction contest submission deadline is still Saturday, March 21st, 3pm.
The stories I have received so far are all great reads. I'm really looking forward to read even more.

3.
Many of you have been telling me for a while that I should use social media to get more people to notice that Estate : Dominate exists.
Baby steps, I'm still setting everything up on the side. But my communication will probably become a bit more public in the future, i.e. some restricted posts will become publicly accessible after a delay. I hope you don't mind if that helps to spread the word a bit farther. I would also, as ever, be very grateful if you could help with that and tell other people about the game. I really need your help with that.

A development progress update - Vol. 34
Hi everyone,

with Saturdays release of R5 v.0.29.1, the current update is wrapped up and I'm 100% focused on R6 now.

Strap yourself in, this is going to be a long planning/numbers post. I'm still not sure about individual or bundled release, but I am developing the character paths individually, and I have to figure out what kind of 'target' to shoot for in terms of length.

Here are the relevant content numbers of an average update so far:

Words: 26.000
Images: 300
This is the size of a release when you play everything I develop. Part of that is shared content, part is exclusive content depending on your choices, especially the character path.

I can't say with confidence how the numbers look for a single playthrough, but I assume it's something like:

Words: 13.000
Images: 180
This is essentially what an update looks like for someone only playing a single character path.

Which means, that making completely separated paths that share neither images, nor text, and that are of similar length for a playthrough as the other updates, will require me to create approx. this:

Words: ~40.000
Images: 540 (450)
So, single path playthrough multiplied by 3. This is far from exact science of course. Images can probably be reduced to about 450 because I don't have to make small expression changes depending on character path and similar things.

Still, this looks pretty scary on first glance. But even aside from being just a rough estimate, there are a few reasons why I think it could be attainable. Let's just go with two big ones to keep this short.

Writing: There are huge constraints on what can happen in a scene to keep it credible for all versions, which often means writing a very difficult compromise instead of a straight forward scene that is a natural fit. It can be incredibly time consuming to drag an MC through a scene where he doesn't quite belong.
Images: Making different image sets within the same scene ramps up the complexity immensely, especially if the sets are also supposed to share some images. If you make the sets in individual sequences, continuity becomes a big problem. If you make them side by side, you have to go back and forth between entirely different pose sets instead of making incremental changes to the poses as the scene progresses.

Combining those two multiplies any challenge: a scene like 'Cleaning Duty', with 6 different written paths and 4 different image sets, is pure nightmare material to develop.

All of this is a good deal simpler with independent paths. I still have to keep track of what other versions of the MC do on parallel paths, but within a scene, there's only one major MC version to write and make images for. Does that mean I can write 40K words and create 450 images within a regular development cycle? Well, I'm not sure. This post is just as much for transparency as it is for thinking through this myself. But I do believe I can get closer to this goal than one might think, just from looking at the numbers. I'm also pretty sure that each individual release would be of a large enough size to be 'worthy' of an update, if I don't end up bundling them altogether for something humongous. But I can decide that when I get closer to completion of the first path I'm developing.

A Guide for Estate : Dominate
Hi everyone,

we finally have a new official Estate : Dominate Guide.

A few days ago, Gen, who had made guides for the early Releases, offered to make an entirely new one for everything up to R5. Today, it's done.

Most of the work was done by Gen, with me pitching in some notes and ideas.

Designing the guide was fairly tricky, since many things are deliberately irregular in the game. It doesn't necessarily help, that Gen and I are both very familiar with the script. What's obvious to us might not be obvious to the player using the guide. Which is to say: feedback is greatly appreciated. This isn't a document that is fixed for eternity, so if you're missing something, let us know and we can add it for the next version.

A huge thanks to Gen for making this. I hope this will help all of you find whatever is missing in your Galleries.

A development progress update - Vol. 33
Hi everyone,



it's been only two days since release day, but aside from the 'save bug', which as far as I can tell hasn't affected many, the update appears to be stable. I've fixed a few typos and one image, and added an additional image for a smoother transition in one scene. You also can't currently unlock the last image in the Non Canon Gallery because there's no unlock code for that in the script.

I'm going to make another build to fix those little things in the next few days. Let me know if you want me to fix anything else until then.



Talk about next Release from here. No real story spoilers, so should be safe to read even if you haven't played yet.



R5 ended with all character paths in very different spots. For next update at least, there's not much that they can share in terms of dialogue or scenes. Which means that I'm probably going to develop them more or less one by one. Question is: Should I also release them one by one then, or keep them back until they are all finished and release the 3 path package?

Upside of releasing them one by one is a much quicker release schedule. Downside is that releasing something by itself takes a decent bit of time and is pretty stressful, so doing that every couple of weeks for a while might not be that great. I don't have to decide what to do immediately since it doesn't change anything about the start of this development cycle. I just wanted to put it out there and give you all the chance to tell me what you think.

Уже есть начало цепочки доминирования Главного Героя, где в диалогах можно выбрать, что главный герой не собирается подчиняться и возьмет всё под свой контроль. Это сцены, например, где он поднимает коробку по лестнице и Изабелла хочет его ударить, но он перехватывает её руку и больно сжимает специально и сцена в туалете, где он отказывается что-то там делать перед Изабеллой. Так что да, вариант где главный герой будет доминировать, автор развивает тоже, но все-таки эта игра скорее про фендом и весь контент будет заточен под это. Зашел в чат дискорда и там чуваки писали автору мол добавь больше сцен, где "госпожи" писают в рот и прочее .... такое как бэ.

A development progress update - Vol. 31
Hi everyone,


I'm in a bit of a hurry today so I'm trying to make this a quick one:

Work has been good. I'm still rendering images, but it's fleshing out 'finished' scenes instead of making new ones now. It's mostly minor additions. The one exception is a third path through the scene from the third preview image. I thought I could get away with stitching it together with already existing images, because the scene already has so many, but it just doesn't feel right when playing it. So, exclusive images for that path it is.

I want the release to be on a weekend. There are two left this month and the next is too close, so tentative release date is 28/29th. I'll work for a few more days to be sure, and will make the 'real' announcement at the end of the week.
